Job 8380: Team Leader - Defined Benefit Pension Administration

Location: NJ   Northern New Jersey
Mid-Atlantic (DE, DC, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA & WV)
Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 DOE plus bonus opportunity.
Bonus & Incentives: 15 - 20% annual performance bonus.
Position Responsibilities: Our client’s 60 years as an independent benefits consulting firm, combined with their unparalleled expertise, has created within their practice an uncommon level of professional freedom. PRIMARY FOCUS: The Team Leader directs a group of benefit analysts responsible for the calculation and payment of pension benefits for clients who retain the firm to provide pension administration services. The Team Leader monitors administrative processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness in the delivery of services to both clients and plan participants. Additionally, the Team Leader is responsible for basic training of staff. DUTIES: 1) Manage workload, escalating issues as necessary 2) Assess training needs and provide training 3) Monitor progress of daily tasks 4) Process and review manual calculations and ensure accuracy of system generated calculations 5) Initiate pensioner payments 6) Ensure final work products are of high quality and provided in a timely fashion 7) Adhere to administrative procedures, and help to define best practices 8) Assist in executing process improvements 9) Ensure service level commitments are maintained by the team 10) Build teamwork and maintain positive team morale 11) Coordinate time off requests 12) Take an active role in pursuing continued education 13) Complete performance evaluations 14) Interface with plan sponsor representatives concerning ongoing administration services 15) Maintain effective relationships with client contacts and internal staff 16) Assist with system testing for plan modifications and new plan implementations 17) Coordinate with implementation team to achieve successful plan conversions
Education and Certifications/Licenses: Bachelors, QPA a plus
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications: 1) Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or any other analytical or business field, 2) 5+ years of pension benefit calculation and/or outsourcing experience, 3) Supervisory experience, 4) Understanding of regulatory aspects of defined benefit plan administration such as 415 benefits limits, 401(a)(17) limits, minimum required distributions, nonqualified plans and other defined benefit regulatory issues involving ERISA and IRS Revenue Rulings, 5) Organizational and problem solving skills, with the ability to track multiple tasks and issues, set goals and prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment, 6) Exposure to pension actuarial valuation experience and defined benefit administration system experience, 7) Analytical and mathematical skills, with an emphasis on the details, 8) Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on customer service.
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Supervisory experience in a consulting environment strongly preferred, 2) Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) designation a plus, 3) Experience with Microsoft Access and/or SQL Enterprise Manager a plus.
